Welcome to the glorious, slightly unhinged world of Amethyst Tiger Designs, where organisation is a rumor and chaos is an everyday occurrence.

Chaos divided

Teamwork is essential, especially when you both operate on a different plane of reality. Jan wrestles with computers and Social Media, while I’m over in the corner performing some kind of ritual to keep my resin from morphing into a sentient blob, sanding until I don’t have any finger prints or trying not to lose body parts when using power tools. We each have our own little corner of chaos, and as long as one of us remembers to order more materials before we’re completely out, it’s a resounding success.

Hey presto! The magical disappearing list

We’re big believers in the power of lists. We write them, we lose them, and then we rewrite them, completely forgetting what was on the first one! It’s an inefficient yet beautiful cycle. Yes, a ‘digital’ list could solve this, but where’s the fun in that? We prefer the excitement of finding a critical reminder from last month randomly tucked away on top of the microwave or in the pocket of one of Jan’s hoodies hidden amongst the several hundred tissues. It’s a surprise every time.

The Serenity of a Total Meltdown

We love the custom business because it’s a constant reminder that we’re not in control. We live for the thrill of a last-minute change, the joy of a new problem, and the deep satisfaction of watching our materials rebel. When things go completely sideways, we just laugh and pour a cup of coffee (or a very large Gin in Jan’s case). What else are you going to do, cry? Please.
The Sad, Inevitable Truth
At the end of the day, we do this to ourselves because we just absolutely love it! The chaos, the mess, the endless hunt for a misplaced measuring tape —it’s all part of the charm. If a sane, organised life is the alternative, we’ll stick with our glorious, magnificent opera of chaos. It’s so much more fun.
